about me

I am a Registered Art Therapist.  I received my Master of Arts degree in Art Therapy from Marylhurst University. I have extensive training in addressing trauma, sadness, grief, loss, stress, illness, and life transitions.

I believe the human mind, body, and spirit are constantly striving toward  health, even in the wake of challenges.  We want to thrive.  In facilitating the  intuitive eating process I use a combination of approaches including mindfulness, art therapy, verbal communication,  and writing.  I help people move toward positive intention and clarity with grace and humor.  I’m especially fond of encouraging the exploration of one’s deepest yearnings and helping people notice significant moments of beauty.

My Story

When  I was in my teens, I too, had fallen victim to the messages girls receive regarding body image.  I developed my own crazy- making relationship with food and had no real understanding of how it had developed or how to make it end.  I unexpectedly came upon the book,  Breaking Free From Emotional Eating by Geneen Roth.  Geneen and her book saved my life. Geneen was one of the first women to write about her experience with food and overeating. She eventually decided she would stop dieting and listen to her body. It worked. Although she did not coin the phrases “mindful eating” or”intuitive eating,” she was doing just that, getting back to the natural way of nourishing our bodies.

I’m passionate about helping others with this issue because I know the difference between living in that darkness and finding the light.  Once I was able to mend the relationship with myself and my body, my spirit was able to shine.  My energy was freed up to create my life.

It is with great honor that I am allowed to be a witness to my clients’ journey.
